These are my favourite part of Easter, painting Pysanka. Each egg has its own symbols, meanings and secret formulas for dyeing eggs. These customs were preserved faithfully and passed down from mother to daughter through generations.
Pysanky were thought to protect households from evil spirits and catastrophes. Pysanky with spiral motifs were the most powerful, because the demons and other unholy creatures would be trapped within the spirals forever.
If you do do not take care of your pysanky, a witch could get ahold of one and use it for iniquity. The witch could also use bits of the eggshell to poke people and sicken them.
DIY Felt Rosebud Basket. One of the easiest tutorials ever. No sewing (you can either use or a stitch or glue gun). Also, the felt is from Joanne’s Frabric Store. Tutorial from The Blooming Thread here. *one image download
